INTRODUCING THE TRAVELING DRAGON THIRTEEN-TECHNIQUE SPEAR
There are two main types of spears, namely the metal spears and the flower spears. The metal spears were long and heavy, with the spear shaft usually made of heavy wood or metal. They were usually used for horseback fighting, and were the choice weapons of Chinese generals in the past.
The flower spears are a modern version of the classical metal spears. Flower spears are light and shorter than metal spears, with the spear shaft usually made of light wood or cane. Flower spears are usually used for foot fighting.
Grandmaster Wong has three spear sets — a metal spear set called “Cross-road Throat-Locking Spear” from Uncle Righteousness, and two flower spear sets called “Traveling Dragon Spear” from his Sisook Shen Phooi of Uncle Righteousness' lineage, and “Thirteen-Technique Spear” from Sifu Choe Hoong Choy of Wing Choon. The set presented here is a composite set from “Traveling Dragon Spear” and “Thirteen-Technique Spear”, with some patterns from “Cross-road Throat-Locking Spear”.
