REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT AT THE WEAPON COURSE
Participants at the Weapon Course were not tired even after a few hours of vigorous training
Before the course, many participants were apprehensive that they had to learn three weapon sets in a few days. Could they do it? Many of them had not even held a weapon before.
But they were presently surprised that not only they learned the sets in record them, they could perform the patterns in ways that many other practitioners with many years of experience could not. Our course participants, for example, undersoodd the three harmonies of feet, body and hands that enabled them not only not to sustain injuries from their training but also attain maximum result with minimum effort.
They also learned and practiced combat applications of basic patterns so that their performance became meaningful to them. They could relax and generate an energy flow in their peformance so that they were not tired even after some hours of vigorous practice.
A picture-series and a video series of the set can be found here and here respectively.

Point at Star, Look at Moon
After the four corners which complete Sequence 5, you proceed to Sequence 6. The patterns are “Sweep a Thousand Army”
Sweeping with the Blade of the Spearhead
Sequence 6 of the spear set contains the right side and the left side. Having completed the four patterns on the right side, now you perform them on the left. In the horizontal sweep, you may attack not only with the spear shaft but also with the blade of the spear head. The three other patterns provide three different ways of piercing with the spear.
Most Important Techniques Found at the Beginnig
The class goes over the patterns learnt. This video clip shows the first two sequences of the set. Many people may not realize that in most kungfu sets, usually the most fundamental -- meaning most important -- techniques are found at the beginning. Do you know what are the most fundamental techniques or patterns here?
Some of the Deadliest Spear Techniques
This is Sequence 3 of the set. Having performed the most fundamental techniques in the first two sequence, you learn some of the deadliest spear techniques in this third sequence. Do you know what they are and how to apply them in combat?
Used as a Dagger and as a Staff
Here is part of Sequence 4. The spear is used first as a dagger, then as a staff, reminding us of its historical background as well as the compassionate feature of our teaching. If you need to thrust a spear into something hard, like through an armour, a preferred way is shown here.
Longer and Longer Reaches of the Spear Shoot
This is a continuation of Sequence 4. After thrusting from the left and the right, the spear is shot out with feet together, then in one hand like a sword thrust, giving you longer and longer reach.
Handling All Directions and Multiple Attackers
This video clip shows Sequence 5 which covers the four corners, and Sequence 6 which covers the left and the right sides. With the four corners covered, you can handle attacks from all directions. The side sequence, amongst other functions, enables you to fight with multiple attackers.
Making Flowers with the Spear
This is Sequence 7, which deals with an important and interesting technique known as “khuen fa” or “making flowers”. “Making flowers” is found in many weapons, like the Butterfly Knives, the saber, the sword and the staff. Not knowing its combat functions, many practitioners erroneously think that it is only for demonstration.
