Part 5 -- Shaolin Four Abridged Combat Sequences
Combat Sequence 1
Combat sequences constitute the core of our sparring methodology. Our combat training is comprehensive, covering all the four dimensions of attack and defence, namely striking, kicking, felling and chin-na.
We have 16 basic combat sequences which are taught in our regular classes and Intensive Shaolin Kungfu Courses.
When training time is shorter, like in regional courses and summer camps, these 16 basic combat sequences are distilled into 8 combat sequences.
When training time is shorter still, like in introductory or preparatory courses, these 8 combat sequences are abridged into 4 combat sequences, yet maintaining the comprehensiveness of our combat training that covers all the four categories of striking, kicking, felling and chin-na. In other words, although students are trained in only 4 combat sequences, their combat training is complete, and they are able to handle all forms of attack.
The 4 abridged combat sequences in this video series were first taught in Japan from 16th to 18th December 2007.
You can also view the Standardized version of these combat sequences
