LEARNING THE FORMS OF PHEW CHEE
Phew Chee or Thrusting Fingers is the thrid fundamental set in Wing Choon Kungfu. In Choe Family Wing Choon, Phew Chee is performed as the thrid part of Siu Lin Tou, but for the purpose of easier learning it is practiced here as a separate set. The techniques look simple, but are very sophisticated in their application.
Two notable features of this set, which are characteristic features of Choe Family Wing Choon but are not often found in popular styles of Wing Choon practiced today, are the phoenix-eye fist and the leopard fist. They are excellent hand-forms for small-sized exponents against bigger-sized opponents, with the phoenix-eye fist aiming at vital points, and the leopard fist at soft spots like the eyes, the neck, the temples, the ribs, the spine and the groin.
