DIFFERENT RESPONSES FOR ATTACKS FROM DIFFERENT HEIGHTS
The sophistication of Shaolin Kungfu is reflected in the way an exponent defends against attacks from different heights. While the same defend technique is used against attacks from different heights in many other martial arts, in Shaolin Kungfu irrespective of your opponent's height, you "thread" when an attack is high, "lean" when it is at mid-level, and "sweep" when it is low. "Golden Dragon", "Single Tiger" and "Hand Sweep" are representative defences
Golden Dragon | Too Far | Too Close |
Gliding Away | Wrong Spacing | Wrong Contact |
Elbow or Wrist | Elbow or Wrist | Too Close |
