THE TACTIC OF FLOW OR LEAK
Combat Sequence 8 contains some interesting and sophisticated techniques and skills. As your opponent sweeps at your neck, you intercept with the edge of your palm, using the pattern "Attend Conference with Single Knife". This looks like a block, but is actually a counter-attack, employing the tactic of "no defence direct counter". As he moves his arm away, you drive a leopard fist into his ribs, using the same tactics your opponent used earlier, but the techniques are different.
Your opponent counters by sweeping at your arm, employing the tactic of "no defence direct counter". You "flow" or "leak" your arm away and swing a hanging fist on his head, again using "no defence direct counter". This tactic is known as "lau" in Chinese ("liu" in Mandarine). The same sound "lau" (and also "liu") can be written differently to mean "flow" or "leak". This "flow" or "leak" tactic is deceptive and very effective in combat.
