WAHNAM TAIJIQUAN SETS IN SLOW MOTION

Green Dragon Shoots Pearl

The following Wahnam Taijiquan sets, which form part of the teaching material in the Intensive Taijiquan Course, are performed in slow motion in the following video clips so that it is easier for those attending the course to familiarize themselves with these sets. These sets performed in some speed are shown in video clips found here.

Please note that while knowing these sets beforehand are useful as it will enable you to free yourself from worrying about what techniques to apply and how to perform them so that you can focus on developing skills, in our school, performing sets constitutes a minor part of our training. Hence, do not be worried if you find difficulty learning these sets on your own. You will learn all these sets within the five days of the Intensive Taijquan Course.

What is more important in our training philosophy are combat application and internal force training. And even more important is to apply the principles and skills learnt in combat application and internal force training to our daily work and play so that we can enrich our life as well as the lives of other people. Please take note that we do not mention these words here for fun or fashion; we are serious about what we say. If you miss this point, you would miss the essence of our Shaolin Wahnam training.

Please also note that learning the sets before the combat application is for the sake of expediency — enabling you to get the best benefits from the Intensive Course as well as making the best use of computer technology. Historically, combat application came first. After years of actual fighting, past masters stylized their fighting movements into patterns. Later these patterns were linked into sequences. Then the sequences were linked into sets. We shall relive this process during the Intensive Taijiquan Course. You can view the Twelve Combat Sequences that form the four combat application setshere.

Editorial Note: Don't worry about the background music which happened to be playing while the video clips were taken.

White Crane Flaps Wings in Slow Motion

White Crane Flaps Wings The set “White Crane Flaps Wings” is shown in three parts in slow motion to enable to learn the patterns more easily. Performing a set in slow motion is also helpful in checking precision of forms as well as in generating energy flow. When one has learnt the set correctly, it should be performed with some speed and force (but not brutal strength).

Without speed and force, no one, regardless of how elegant his forms are and how long he has practiced them, can be combat efficient. A video clip showing the same set in some speed can be found here.

White Snake Shoots Venom in Slow Motion

White Snake Shoots Venom This is the first of the combat application sets, and it trains hand attacks and defences. This set is composed of the following three combat sequences shown in the following video clips: Immortal Waves Sleeves, Low Stance Vertical Punch, and White Snake Shoots Venom. A video clip showing the same set in some speed can be found here.

Green Dragon Shoots Pearl in Slow Motion

Green Dragon Shoots Pearl "Green Dragon Shoots Pearl" is the second of the Wahnam Taijiquan combat application sets. It introduces kicking attacks and defences, and is composed of the following three combat sequences shown in the following video clips: Green Dragon Shoots Pearl, White Crane Flaps Wings, and Striking Tiger Poise. A video clip showing the same set in some speed can be found here.

Black Bear Sinks Hips in Slow Motion

Black Bear Sinks Hips “Black Bear sinks Hips” is the third combat application set in Wahnam Taijiquan. This set incorporates kicking and felling attacks and their defences. It is formed from the following three combat sequences shown in the following video clips: Thrust Kick, Low Stance Single Whip, and Black Bear Sinks Hips. A video clip showing the same set in some speed can be found here.

Carry Tiger Back to Mountain

Carry Tiger Back to Mountain “Carry Tiger Back to Mountain” is the fourth of our combat application sets in Wahnam Taijiquan. This set incorporates felling and gripping attacks and their defences. It is formed from the following three combat sequences shown in the following video clips: Shoulder Strike, Cloud Hands, and Carry Tiger Back to Mountain. A video clip showing the same set in some speed can be found here.

The above five Wahnam Taijiquan sets will enable you not only to know how to defend against any attacks — regardless of whether they are strikes, kicks, throws or locks — but also know how to move elegantly, be focused and relaxed, generate energy flow, develop internal force, and to spar for an hour without feeling tired or out of breath! You will learn all these not in 5 years but in 5 days!

It is understandable that others unfamiliar with our methodology and results may consider us boastful or ridiculous. The more aggressive among them may call us liars and charlatans. We do not wish to waste time arguing with them, but lament that they never checked facts before making aggressive comments.

If you have been accepted to the Intensive Taijiquan Course, you will have the opportunity to test from direct personal experience whether the above claims are true, and if they are not true, please don't pay any training fees, or if you have paid, ask for a full refund, and it will be returned to you without questions.

If you find the course satisfactory, you are welcome to our world-wide Shaolin Wahnam Family not only to share the wonderful benefits of these arts past masters have bequeathed to us, but also to preserve and pass them on to posterity. We do not want these arts to be lost.

You can also view the Twelve Combat Sequences presented separately in Still Pictures and in Video Clips.
